Range and charging time

#Hertz-EV - Polestar 2

Range

The range of the vehicle depends on various factors. The requirements for the longest possible range vary depending on the operating conditions

The certified range is not to be understood as an expected range. The certified range rather serves the comparison between different vehicles and was determined within the framework of special test cycles.

Range in the driver's display

When shipped from the factory or after a factory reset, the range is based on the certified range.

After a certain amount of vehicle use, the calculated range is based on the previous driving behaviour. The amount of history data taken into account depends on the battery's charging status. The less the battery is charged, the faster the calculated range adapts to a changed driving profile.

Factors that influence the range

Apart from the accumulated driving data, there are other various factors that affect the range. The greatest range is achieved under favourable conditions where all factors exert a positive influence.

Examples of factors that influence the range:

  • Speed
  • Air conditioner settings
  • Topography
  • Preconditioning
  • Tyres and tyre pressure
  • Traffic situation
  • Temperature and weather
  • Road conditions

Charging time

The charging times given below are approximate and do not include air conditioning or other loads that affect charging. The charging time can also vary depending on the battery size. If the charging time is noticeably longer, this should be investigated.

Charging time (alternating current)

Single-phase charging:

Current (A)Charging power (kW)Charging time (hours)
61.372
102.240
163.624
327.212
48118

Three-phase charging:

Current (A)Charging power (kW)Charging time (hours)
6422
106.814
16118

Charging time for rapid charging (direct current)

Charging power (kW)Charging time (minutes)
5065
15035

⚠ Please note

To shorten the rapid charging time in cold weather, the battery must be preconditioned. To do this, add a fast charging station as a destination in Google Maps.

  • In cold or warm weather, it may take a longer time to charge the high-voltage battery. Part of the charging current is then used to warm up or cool down the high-voltage battery.
  • Activating the preconditioning can affect the charging time.
  • Under good conditions regarding the high-voltage battery and charging station, rapid charging outputs of up to 150kW are possible. At the end of the charging process, the charging power is limited.
